Critical Care Services
At the "Just for Kids" Critical Care Center, touch is just as important as technology. Our staff uses the latest in equipment coupled with compassion and concern to give our young patients the very best medical care available.
Our 26-bed pediatric Critical Care Center is the only one of its kind in Kentucky. Children from all across the state are brought here via the "Just for Kids" transport team.
Located on the fourth floor of Kosair Children's Hospital and adorned with colorful ceiling murals, the center is equipped to handle the most fragile patients including those who have had transplants. In addition, patients who are over 18, but have developmental problems, are treated here.
Isolation rooms with positive airflow are part of the center. For patients who are contagious, this allows air from filtering into the rest of the unit. For those with low immunity, outside air can be kept from filtering into their room.
The Critical Care Center has a chaplain and social workers to help families through difficult times. Kitchen, laundry and sleeping facilities also are available for parents of patients.
At the "Just for Kids" Critical Care Center technology and touch meet in the middle.
