Rare Epilepsy Surgery

A 4-year-old Louisville boy who underwent an incredibly rare brain surgery to help prevent life-altering seizures is doing better than almost anyone could imagine.

The surgery was the first of its kind to be performed at Kosair Children's Hospital with the help of the highly skilled specialists in the hospital's new epilepsy monitoring unit.

Get Healthy's Jackie Hays says the boy's parents call Sean Caruso their miracle child.

This procedure is incredibly rare. Only 200 hemispherectomies are performed globally each year.
